FAQs

What kind of wood are your plates made of?

Our plates are made of Eastern maple. Although we reside on Vancouver Island and would love to have used Western maple, it is a more porous wood than the Eastern maple. We have found this to be the best wood for our plates as the grain is much tighter.

How can I wash my plate?

We recommend you hand wash your wooden plate and towel dry, or stand to dry. Do not put your plate in the dishwasher or submerge in water as this may cause your plate to crack.

What do you use to condition the plates?

We have made a beeswax (from Nova Scotia) and fractionated coconut oil conditioner for your plates. You can use a food grade mineral oil as well. We don't recommend olive oil or regular coconut oil as they can go rancid over time.

How can I care for my plate over time?

Over time you will find your plate may get a bit dried out. To maintain your plate we recommend you gently sand with a very fine grit sand paper of 600 and reapply our beeswax and fractionated coconut oil conditioner. This conditioner can be reapplied regularly.
